The Powerful Redhead

The study of hair, I found out, does not take you to the superficial edge of our society, the place where everything silly and insubstantial must dwell. It takes you, instead, to the centre of things’. McCracken, Big Hair, 1995

One of my favourite scenes from the movie Carol is of Cate Blanchett, who from beneath parted, painted lips chuckles and says to her friend, ‘You think you’ve got what it takes to handle a redhead?’

The phrase ‘She’s a redhead’, is often met with eyebrows raised, and a knowing smile. Whether you were a redhead from the beginning, whether it’s from the bottle, or whether, in my case, your natural strawberry blonde has been enhanced, being a redheaded woman means you move outside the lines of virtuosity.

Historically, red hair has symbolised many things; beauty, danger, violence, seduction. It has been linked with prostitution, and with carnality (as if this were a bad thing). It’s no surprise that phenomenal women in history like Lilith and Mary Magdalene have been portrayed in artworks as redheads. It is no surprise that the redheaded woman – portrayed as saints, angels, and femme fatales - influenced an entire art movement in the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.

She’s a redhead. She’s fiery, she’s powerful; she’s no wallflower. Call us ginger, auburn, copper or as flame haired as the sun, being a redheaded independent escort is, for me, the ultimate expression of strong femininity. Whether she’s a dominant or a submissive (I personally lean towards the dominant side of the spectrum), redheads play anything but a subtle role. Spending time with a redheaded playmate is an incomparable experience; one I highly recommend.

Red is a colour that holds particular resonance in our society, and in the world of passion, lust and kink, red is no exception. The colour red speaks to something primal in all of us; it is the colour of blood, of war, of love – it is what Jacky Harvey describes as ‘the centuries-long linkage between red-haired women and sexual desirability’. It is full of the contradictions of life, full of the spark of fascination. Ever wanted to spend a night with your very own 1950’s starlet? Or feel the warmth of a pre-Raphaelite woman? Ever fantasised about being on your knees in front of a femme fatale? The characters a redheaded woman can play, her inherent multifaceted nature, are ours to play with.

Lovers have commented on the way the light tinkers with tones and shades of my hair; the moment you think you’ve got it figured out, the light will shift once more and elude you. My blue eyes contrast sharply with my fair skin and copper locks, a contrast that suggests a complexity of character that is both intoxicating and (sometimes, magnificently) unnerving.  From the moment you spot my fiery locks at the bar, to the exquisite experience of worshipping my fair skin and natural bush, you are playing with fire. And what’s life, without a little heat?

So, you think you’ve got what it takes to handle a redhead? How about two? As an independent London companion, I am deeply blessed to call some of the sexiest, redheaded kinksters in town my friends. I promise, one evening with your very own starlet(s) won’t disappoint.
